Sharon
K. Compono, MSW, LSW
earned her Bachelor’s degree
in psychology from the University
of Maryland. She is the Executive
Director of Franciscan Community
Counseling. Sharon was the Executive
assistant of FCC for 11 years prior
to assuming the position of Executive
Director. She oversees all aspects
of the agency, including budget,
fundraising and marketing, |

well as assisting in setting and implementing
policies adopted by the Board of Directors.
She represents FCC to and is the contact
person for all outside entities. In
addition, she is available to all
staff and clients to assist with any
questions and/or concerns.

Judith
Ann Schaeffer, Ph. D.
Judith Ann Schaeffer, Ph.D. earned
her degree in Counseling Psychology
from Loyola University of Chicago
and completed her residency at St.
Joseph Youth and Children Unit, St.
Joseph Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
Before coming to Franciscan Communtiy
Counseling, where she serves as a
part-time staff psychologist, she
was on the |

of the TMJ Clinic and Pain Management
Center of St. Margaret Mercy Hospital
in Hammond, Indiana. Dr. Schaeffer’s
publications include “Transference
and Counter-transference Interpretation
in Brief Therapy: Helpful or Harmful”
(American Journal of Psychotherapy)
and “Mother-Daughter Relationships”

Elizabeth
Ryan, MSW, LCSW
has been in the mental health field
since 1980, shortly after earning
her Bachelor’s Degree in Social
Work from Western Maryland College
in Westminster, Maryland. She completed
her Master’s Degree in Social
Work in 1989 at the University of
Maryland School of Social Work in
Baltimore, Maryland. |

She
has worked both in public services,
as a Child Protective Services caseworker,
and in the private sector, most recently
in private practice before joining
the Franciscan Community Counseling
team. Working with individuals, families,
and couples, her specialty areas include
depression, and stress-related issues,
self-esteem issues, trauma, relationship
issues, women’s issues, pain
management, and addictions. She holds
a Colorado State LCSW license and
is a Level II-trained Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
practitioner.

Charles
Knoeckel, M.A., NCC, LPC,
earned a B.A. in philosophy from the
University of Colorado, Boulder, and
an M.A. in Counseling from the University
of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He
has been providing counseling services
at Franciscan Community Counseling
since 1999, and also has a private
psychotherapy practice in Colorado
|
|
| |
Springs.
His specialties include treatment
for trauma, abuse, anxiety/panic,
depression, and phobias; he emphasizes
an integrated approach which considers
the well-being of the whole person.
In addition, he is a member of the
faculty of the Masters in Counseling
Program at the University of Phoenix,
and Honorarium faculty in the graduate
Counseling and Human Services Program
at the University of Colorado, Colorado
Springs. He is certified by the National
Board for Certified Counselors, is
licensed by the State of Colorado
as a Licensed Professional Counselor,
and is a Level 2 trained EMDR practitioner.

Robyn
Chapel,
MSW, LCSW
graduated with her Bachelor’s
Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from
Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah,
in 1978, after which she worked on
the pediatric psychiatric unit at
Primary Children’s Medical Center.
In 1982 she graduated with a Master’s
Degree in Social Work from the |

of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. She
worked as a School Social Worker for
6 years. She has worked at Pikes Peak
Mental Health Center, contracted with
the Mental Health Clinic at Peterson
Air Force Base and has been in private
practice since 1995. Her specialty
areas are children, trauma depression,
and anxiety. She holds a Colorado
State License and is a Level II trained
EMDR practitioner.

are provided to Master's and Doctorate
level students. Supervision can be arranged
with one of the appropriate level professionals.
Candidates must apply and pass an interview
process. Licensed staff at FCC supervises
PsyD, MSW, andCounseling from various
schools.
